Tuntutan Spiritual dan Kelelahan: Studi Analisis Burnout Nabi Elia dalam I Raja-raja 17- 19 dan Implikasinya bagi Pemimpin Gereja
Abstract
This study analyses the phenomenon of burnout experienced by the Prophet Elijah in 1 Kings 17–19 and its implications for contemporary church leaders. The story of Elijah depicts the spiritual, emotional, and psychological challenges he faced, particularly following the battle on Mount Carmel and the threats from Queen Jezebel. This study examines the external and internal factors contributing to Elijah’s spiritual exhaustion, linking these experiences to burnout theories, such as the Maslach Burnout Inventory. A hermeneutical method is applied to interpret the biblical text and draw parallels with the challenges faced by modern church leaders. The novelty of this research lies in the use of a holistic approach that combines spiritual, psychological, and theological analysis in examining Elijah’s burnout, whilst providing practical insights for church leaders in managing their spiritual and emotional challenges. The findings of this research aim to deepen understanding of burnout in spiritual leadership, as well as to provide practical recommendations for preventing and recovering from burnout by emphasising the importance of spiritual balance in church ministry.
