Resepsi Apokaliptik Kitab Yobel Terhadap Kejadian 1-2 serta Implikasinya bagi Gereja Kontemporer
Abstract
This article discusses the apocalyptic reception of Genesis 1–2 in the Book of Jubilees and its relevance for the contemporary church. This study is motivated by the importance of understanding how apocalyptic Jewish traditions reinterpret the creation narrative in response to issues of faith identity, holiness, and cosmic order amid the socio-religious pressures of the time. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method through library research and textual analysis of Genesis 1–2 and sources related to the Book of Jubilees as the primary references. The findings reveal that the Book of Jubilees reinterprets the creation story not merely as the origin of the world, but as a theological foundation concerning the sanctity of time, divine law, cosmic order, and covenant identity. The apocalyptic perspective in the Book of Jubilees also portrays creation as part of God’s eschatological plan that directs humanity toward a holy and obedient life. The implications of this study for the contemporary church emphasize the importance of developing spirituality rooted in spiritual discipline, stewardship of creation, awareness of faith identity, and eschatological hope amid the challenges of modernity, secularism, and global moral crises.
Abstrak:
Artikel ini membahas Resepsi Apokaliptik Kitab Yobel Terhadap Kejadian 1-2 serta Implikasinya Bagi Gereja Masa Kini. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya memahami bagaimana tradisi Yahudi apokaliptik menafsirkan ulang narasi penciptaan untuk menjawab persoalan identitas iman, kekudusan hidup, dan keteraturan kosmis di tengah tekanan sosial-keagamaan pada masa itu. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif melalui studi kepustakaan dengan pendekatan analisis teks terhadap Kejadian 1–2 dan sumber-sumber yang berkaitan dengan Kitab Yobel sebagai sumber utama. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Kitab Yobel mereinterpretasikan kisah penciptaan bukan hanya sebagai asal-usul dunia, tetapi sebagai fondasi teologis mengenai kekudusan waktu, hukum ilahi, keteraturan kosmos, dan identitas umat perjanjian. Perspektif apokaliptik dalam Kitab Yobel juga menampilkan penciptaan sebagai bagian dari rencana eskatologis Allah yang mengarahkan umat kepada kehidupan kudus dan taat. Implikasi penelitian ini bagi gereja masa kini adalah perlunya membangun spiritualitas yang berakar pada disiplin rohani pemeliharaan ciptaan, kesadaran identitas iman, dan pengharapan eskatologis di tengah tantangan modernitas, sekularisme, dan krisis moral global.
