Kekristenan di Turki: Potret Historitas Masa Kini Serta Implikasinya bagi Kekristenan di Indonesia
Abstract
Turkey, once the center of early Christianity, now faces significant challenges in maintaining its Christian identity amidst the dominance of Islam marked by complex ambivalence. Although there are various freedoms guaranteed by the constitution, in practice, the Christian community often experiences discrimination and difficulties in carrying out their worship. The method used in this study is descriptive literature. The study's results demonstrate that religious populism can improve the conditions for minority religions in Turkey. Christianity in Turkey has a long and dynamic history. In the early stages of its development, the apostles of Jesus Christ preached the Gospel there, and even though they faced various obstacles and persecution and were increasingly hampered, Christianity spread further. The experience of gathering experienced by the Christian community in Turkey can be a valuable lesson for Christians in Indonesia to better understand the importance of maintaining tolerance and interfaith dialogue.
Abstrak:
Turki yang pernah menjadi pusat Kekristenan awal, kini menghadapi tantangan yang signifikan dalam mempertahankan identitas Kristen di tengah dominasi Islam ditandai dengan ambivalensi yang kompleks. Meskipun terdapat beragam kebebasan yang dijamin oleh konstitusi, dalam praktiknya, komunitas Kristen sering kali mengalami diskriminasi dan kesulitan dalam menjalankan ibadah mereka. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah dekripsif literatur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa situasi di Turki menunjukkan bahwa populisme keagamaan dapat menyelamatkan kondisi bagi agama minoritas. Kekristenan di Turki memiliki sejarah yang panjang dan penuh dinamika. Pada awal perkembangannya, para rasul Yesus Kristus yang memberitakan Injil di sana dan kendati mereka berhadapan dengan berbagai hambatan dan penganiyaan namun semakin dihambat, kekristenan semakin merambat. Pengalaman berkumpul yang dialami oleh komunitas Kristen di Turki dapat menjadi pelajaran berharga bagi umat Kristen di Indonesia untuk lebih memahami pentingnya menjaga toleransi dan dialog antar agama.
